What is number porting |
|
ScionASP number porting service includes our
ability to re-direct existing phone numbers you already use. This
option enables SMBs to enjoy VoIP services without losing use of well
know, published business phone numbers. Number porting also
includes the virtualization of local area code numbers to ScionASP data
centers. Callers will still see your local area code even though
you are using systems and services outside your exchange. |

How does my computer talk to someone's regular
phone |
|
VoIP technology enables voice communications
over the internet through the compression of voice that can be
transmitted over data networks. Calls can be made to other VoIP
callers (IP to IP calls) or VoIP to traditional phone lines (PSTN).
There is no loss of quality no matter the point to point locations.

What is a "Softphone" |
|
VoIP calls can orginate from traditional
analog/digital phones. But these phones need to pass through a
VoIP converter before being transmitted through your router and
broadband connection. Users can opt for new phone devices that
connect directly to your local Ethernet network. These devices can
either be physical phones or softphones. They have the added
advantage of not requiring converter boxes. IP phones look and
function like traditional phones. Softphone is software GUI loaded
on a user's computer. The PC based applications allow
subscribers to make and receeive voice and video calls directly from
their personal computers. USB head sets are required to make calls
and PC cameras are required for Video conferencing. |

How does VoIP lower my
phone costs |
|
Many SMBs are finding that using VoIP allows
them to move their existing phone numbers to a service provider like
ScionASP to boost features without spending money and being forced to
support a new PBX system. Although traditional PBX's for the SMB
market like Bizfon include traditional voice mails services like voice
mail, follow me.call forwarding, remote access, conference calls etc,
VoIP services extend these features adding Video conferencing, IVR, ACD,
skill based routing and unlimited scalability all from a single source
for a lower over all cost. |

VoIP long distance is less
expensive the local carrier long distance |
|
It's True. Local carriers generally
charge $.10 per minute. VoIP services are 65% cheaper.
ScionASP VoIP US48 and Canada long
distance fees are just $.0349 per month per line. Plus there's no
long term contracts to agree to, no cancellation fees to pay |

VoIP international calling
rates are less expensive than local service providers |
|
This is true. Local carriers charge
very expensive, per minute rates. For those that dial overseas
regularily, phone cards have become a valuable way to cut charges.
But the access numbers and all the dialing can be tedious.
VoIP Overseas calling from IP phone to IP phone is free of charge.
IP calls routed through traditional lines do incure charges similar to
calling card fees but without the extra hassle of access numbers, codes
and agreements. Billing flows through the same agreement. |
